    There are a couple of nouns that immediately come to mind while hearkening to ‘Storie Lontane’ by Guardiano Del Picco Carminio and they are triumph and fellowship. Enveloping a complete Medieval sound, this five track endeavor is reminiscent of kingdom’s afar, hidden away in enchanted forests. There are several tracks of Emilian tradition that features enraptured vocals and effervescent synth compositions. With a lo-fi production and minimalistic approach to sound layering, these anthems incorporate comfy synth and fantasy synth for a fresh style that’s an enjoyable listen.

Five chapters, five short stories to take you
back in time, to a world that has now disappeared,
to a distant Italy. The two original tracks,
Il ritorno and La giostra, are combined
with three songs from the Emilian tradition:
Il testamento dell'avvelenato, Bal di Mantova
and Beata es Maria. These are ancient songs,
in which the notes accompany stories of death,
festivals and faith.

The version proposed here
of Il testamento dell'avvelenato, an ancient Italian
ballad, is inspired by the adaptation composed by
the folk band La piva dal carnér, itself inspired
by the version of the song discovered in
Carbonizzo, a hamlet of Canossa. Regarding
of Bal di Mantova, a song of Baroque origin,
the version proposed here is the one that
the historical violinist Melchiade Benni
used to perform. Lastly, talking about the song
Beata es Maria, from the medieval antiphonary
of Bobbio, the inspiration comes from the version
composed by the folk band Enerbia.
