A dreamy, beguiling, nostalgic dungeon synth quest through the shires. But, it's so much more than that. The LP incorporates some unique key changes, field recordings and a lot of Mort Garson style synth work. It sometimes reminds me of old 70's PG horror soundtracks. The record is addictive melancholy inspiration. The ideal music for accompanying the dawning morning of an epic adventure.

As a newcomer to Dungeon Synth, (and now producing it myself, as a result of my fascination), this was the artist that caught my attention. The production is nice and 'crisp', you can hear everything that is going on. Yet, underneath it all, there is still a lush sense of mystery that conjures up a lot of day-dreaming on my part. I grew up around forests and ponds, and alas, don't have such easy access anymore. But if I listen to this music, it takes me to those wonderful places.

Fagradalsfjall really manages to capture that folk spirit of Viking music and vibe. Between his drums, his guttural songs and his vielles, one feels as if embarked on a snekkja, or in the heart of a village in the Far North. This project by Ni'ilok is one of the best lately in my opinion.

Very well balanced and produced musical creation. You can listen it in background, and be already somewhat immersed. But you should listen it focusing. Compositions tell a beautiful story, and transition smoothly from one to another. This is more of forest synth, rather than dungeon synth to me :-)
